I will never forget you, dear Dr. Hashemi

July 31st, 2021. This is a day I’ll never forget. My phone called about noon, and I was informed that my Master’s degree advisor, Dr. Seyyed Naser Hashemi, had passed away from Coronavirus sickness. I had one of the worst days of my life, and I still can’t believe it after a few days.

During the two years that I had the honor of being his student, I learned a great deal not only about scientific and academic matters but also about how to be a decent person in our society. I recall being quite interested in his perspective on research at our first meeting. That you should immerse yourself in your topic of interest and endeavor to answer a variety of questions, not being afraid to ask new ones.

Dear professor Dr. Hashemi, I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for all you have done for me. I will never forget you as long as I live, and I promise that I will never forget your lessons. I will do my best to be a decent person first, and then a competent scientist.

Wishing you endless peace,
Mohammad Mollaahmadi
